Last Year...

At BSP we have always been committed to engaging children in competitive sport, therefore we were thrilled to receive a Silver Games Mark that recognised this commitment for 2016-17.

We will continue to deliver and facilitate competitive sport opportunities and will be striving towards another games mark for this year.

Family Cookery Classes

We are extremely privileged this year to have some skilled, volunteer chefs coming into school every week to work with our families on making healthy, wholesome meals at amazingly cheap prices. Have a look below at some of the magic taking place and to explore some tasty recipes.

Parents and carers, if you are interested in joining our class, it takes place in our hall every Tuesday at 9-10.30am. We would love to see some new faces and if you try out any new recipes or ideas at home, come share it with us.
Recipes To Try

Super Skippers

Recently we were lucky enough to have professional coaches come and deliver skipping sessions to our Year 2 classes for the day. The children absolutely loved this experience and activity - some of them had no idea how to skip and had never tried it before, but by the end were doing spectacular tricks with a range of ropes! In February, 30 of our fantastic Year 2 pupils will be going to the annual Skipping Festival to showcase their skills and compete against other schools. This is so exciting as some children have never competed for our school before! Luckily, our amazing teachers Miss Margiotta and Mrs Hopson are on hand to train the children before hand and ensure they feel fit and ready to represent Bramley St. Peter's!

Netball News

Amazing news for BSP Girls Netball Team this week as they WON the West Leeds netball tournament against six other competing schools. Some of our dedicated girls had never played competitive netball before and did us extremely proud by committing to daily training sessions and pulling together as a team. We will now be going through to the Leeds Final and hoping to do Bramley Proud. Keep up the good work girls, we are all routing for you.

Cross Country Champs

Over twenty of our KS2 children went to Leeds West Academy to partake in a cross country run (for fun). It was an exhausting and tricky 1500m!!!

Those that enjoyed the experience then joined a team competition: 4 girls and boys from Years 4, 5 and 6. Everyone tried extremely hard and did amazingly well. Fantastically, our Year 4 boys actually won the entire race against lots of other schools in Leeds. Thor Cundy (year 4) even won the entire race!!!

He will go on to run at the West Yorkshire Finals - stay tuned for the results!

Thor absolutely smashed the West Yorkshire Finals coming 43 out of 117 runners - 15th out of all Leeds racers. His time we a remarkable 3 minutes and 54 seconds: so so proud!

Amazing Athletics

Athletics has always been a favourite for us here at BSP and this year was no different. After learning the various areas each lunchtime and working as a team, our Year 5 and 6 children competed in the Indoor Sports Hall Athletic Event at Leeds West. The hard work certainly paid off as our team won for the West area and we went on to compete at the Leeds Finals.

BSP came 5th out of 35 schools - something we are extremely proud of!

Incredible Inclusive Event

At BSP it is important to us that all children feel successful and able to be active, therefore we took part in an Inclusive Sports Hall Athletics Event - taking 20 children that would normally shy away from sport and physical activity.

The children absolutely loved the event, partaking in various multi-sports and making new friends. Some of these pupils have said they feel much more confident in PE and would now volunteer to come to after school clubs and attend competitions. Amazing news guys!

Rigorous Rugby

Our KS2 rugby players have been training hard every Tuesday in preparation for the upcoming tournaments. Various tournaments for KS2 children will happening in the upcoming weeks so keep checking for the eagerly anticipated results.

This week, BSP Year 5 team played against Lower Wortley and won by an incredible 6 - 3. Both teams did themselves proud and we look forward to the next match frown!

This term it was time for our mixed tackle rugby tournament and although it was nerve-wracking to be playing a contact sport we loved our matches and played fantastically well. We didn't win this time but are proud of ourselves for taking part, working hard and playing for part of the team. We ended up soaked but smiling!

Honourable Hockey

Our school took part in the Active Schools Quick Stick Hockey tournament (mixed gender). This was our first hockey tournament for some years and we were all keen to prove BSP has still got the talent!

The team played amazingly, only losing 1 of their 6 matches and we came top of our category!! Sadly, we were just pipped to the post on goal difference but we had an amazing day and learnt so many new skills.

Fantastic Footballers

Our talented Year 3/4 footballers had their first tournament of the year, and hadn't even played together before. They played amazingly well, even on the hottest day of the year. Of 6 games, we won 3, drew 2 and lost 1 and came 2nd out of 7 schools! Fantastic effort and lots of fun.

Sport relief in an amazing charity that we fully support here at BSP. To raise money and awareness this half term the whole school dressed up in sports wear and brought in a donation. We also did a whole school Wake Up Shake Up, which was extremely fun and got us ready for the day. Take a look at some of our amazing moves!
