PTA

Do you have some spare time and would like to support fund raising and making a difference?

If so, join the school Parent Teachers Association (PTA)

What is a PTA?

An organisation with a mission to make the school a better place for children to learn. A PTA brings together parents, teachers and children to raise funds and strengthen the school community. Money raised is usually spent on things that the school budget does not cover eg

  • Childrens Disco
  • Christmas Fayre
  • Mothers Day Shop
  • Fathers Day Shop
  • Year 6 Leaver Celebrations
  • Sports day refreshments and cake stall

Why should I join one?

There are many reasons why you should join your PTA. From making new friends and getting to know the school environment, through to helping raise much needed funds and making a difference to the children and school community. All of these things help you grow in confidence as a parent and it feels good to know you are making a difference for your children and for generations to come.

Why is the PTA important?

  • Raises school standards - parents want to be involved in their child's education and want their child to succeed. Giving parents their voice provides fresh insight into school improvements and PTA meetings are a forum to voice any concerns and provide their perspectives.
  • Improves home-school communication - the PTA provides an open line of communication between parents and schools. Having PTA working with the school on initiatives can benefit with the promotion of fundraising events, issues the school is having or just general discussions parents need to be aware of.
  • Provide students with extra opportunities - the main duty of the PTA is to organise fundraising events to help raise money for the school to facilitate experiences the school budget can't cover. Money raised from these events can go towards school trips or purchasing devices to optimise children’s learning. The PTA will allocate where the funds are spent with guidance from the school.

Meetings

Meets are usually very informal and often approx. 6 times per year, held on school premises. The majority of the meetings will consist of event planning and organising the focus of the fundraising event.
