We have been making delicious wraps for our picnic at the coast.
Well done to everybody who created a fantastic coastal feature for their homework. It was a wonderful way to make us feel like we are at the coast in our classroom.
Our science day challenge was to build the tallest free standing tower with some unusual building materials. There was a lot of perseverance when we had to rebuild the towers many times and some great team work to hold the towers in place.
Our Trip to Harlow Carr Gardens.
We had lots of fun finding out about how seeds grow. We made Bella the buttercup to learn about the parts of a plant, collected different seeds from around the gardens and planted some garlic chive seeds. There was also some time after lunch to try out the treehouse playground.
World Book Day
We had lots of amazing book characters in 2ED
We started the day by reading with our parents.
Galley Poetry Competition
Amelia was fantastic at the final of the poetry competition.
Amelia our representative in the final
Here are a few poems that were performed during our class competition that was held to decide who would represent 2ED in the final.

As part of our habitat topic we designed and made for an animal.
We worked with a partner to make sure the animal had all the things it would need to survive in their habitat.
The spring term started we had some visitors. They helped us to find out more about our habitats topic.
Here is what we did in the Autumn 2 term.
Building Bridges.
We built some bridges to decide which materials had the best properties to make a sturdy and safe bridge for the car. Some were more successful than others!
Remembrance Day
To remember the soldiers who fought in the wars we have been writing acrostic poems and making poppies.
These are the two poems that were chosen to represent 2ED in the whole school Remembrance Day poem book.
We have been improving our skipping ready for a competition against some other schools in the area. Hopping, double bounces and side to sides are just some of the skills we have learnt.
Here are a few things we did in our first term in Year 2.
In art, we have been looking at the artist Lichtenstein who uses dots to create his images. We produced some self portraits in the style of the artist. Can you recognise who they are?
Our topic has been 'Prey or Predator?'. We have found out lots about food chains and the special skills animals have to survive in the wild. Here is some art work showing some animal eyes.
We have also been thinking about challenging ourselves and persevering if it doesn't work the first time. We were set the task of building the tallest tower possible with just plastic cups and pieces of card. To make the tallest possible we had to think about our mistakes and ways we could change the tower to improve it. We persevered and built some impressive towers.
