Summer 2

Our topic this half term is... Journeys

Our Big Question… Would you like to go on a journey to Rome?

Summer 2 Stay and Games. Lots of fun and games in the sunshine today. The children loved having their family and carers in school to play and engage with each other.

Welcome back to our final term. Today we kicked off our first day back with our Mindmate Day. We looked at how we deal with difficult situations and a reminder about sun safety. Lots of team work and great discussion from everyone.

Summer 1

Our topic this half term is... Roman Empire

Our Big Question is... Who are the Romans and what did they do for us?

Royal Armouries - we had great fun being soliders and Queen Boudicca’s alies. The children practiced the tortoise formation and were shown different weapons used 2000 years ago. A great opportunity to bring learning to life and give our children different experiences.

It has been another busy half term. We have been learning about the Romans, making snapping dragon heads with levers and linkages, representing the trinity with art as well as a visit to St Peter’s church. We have also been news reporters reporting on the volcanic eruption in Pompeii

Here is a snap shot of our learning so far this term. It includes: Branch database designing in Computing, finding features of a newspaper report in English, using scales in Maths and looking at how water is important to Christian in R.E. Lots of creative and immersive learning inside and out.

Summer 1 - inside out day. Today we returned to school after the Easter break. We spent the day re-establishing routines and looking at how being the same and being different can be with a focus on accepting that my friends and I might have different opinions. Lots of talk partner work and discussions.

Our Big Question is... How does your garden grow?

This week we had our parent and carer afternoon. We had stay and craft where we made Easter cards, decorated a biscuits and played some good traditional games. It was lovely to see so many parent and carers come and visit.

World Book Day 2023. Today we had lots of fun dressing up as our favourite book characters. We had lots of discussion around reading and why we read and who our favourite authors are. In the afternoon we created our own reading journey posters showcasing what books we have read and what we enjoyed about them. A great day celebrating reading! 📚

Spring 1

Our big question is...why is metal marvellous?

Sikh Gurdwara Visit 2023. Today we visited Beeston Sikh Gurdwara. We were met with a warm friendly welcome. We learnt about what happens at a Gurdwara and what is important to the Sikh religion. It was educational and informative. We finished the morning having food in the Langar. The children tried new foods and were polite and respectful. Well done Year 3!

Visit to our local library. Today year 3 visited Bramley library. We enjoyed a story with Ellie, explored the books available, did some drawings on what books means to us, and discussed how we can join the library.

PE - The beginnings of a new dance routine with Inspiration Tree based on the song ‘ A Million Dreams’. Super proud!

The children have been learning the first part with the dance instructor over the last few week and today were given freedom to come up with their own routine for the second part. They had super ideas and imagination using the music to tell the story. Here is a snippet of what they have done.
