Leeds Children's Mayor

Leeds Children’s Mayors is an annual citizen project that has been running for over 15 years. It is run in partnership between Democratic Services and the Voice and Influence Team.  The project aims to actively engage children in the process of democracy and promote an understanding of rights and responsibilities as well as being an active citizen. It is an opportunity for schools to encourage and support pupils to be aspirational, and recognise that their actions can influence change.

 

Some of our Year 5 pupils wrote a manifesto in a bid to represent Bramley St. Peter's and become the next Leeds Children's Mayor. Congratulations to Jaxon, who not only was voted by all the other children in the year group to go forward to the next stage and submit his manifesto to the competition, but then succeeded in becoming one of the 12 finalists!
