Cooking at Bramley St Peters
Our family cooking club, run by Flourishing Families Leeds, has been hugely popular ever since it started, and this term has brought even more success stories.
The cooking clubs are run for 6 families at a time and teach foundational cooking skills in a friendly and relaxed environment, where no previous experience is necessary. We have a lot of fun together and make delicious food each week – spaghetti Bolognese, chicken tagine, homemade soup, as well as lemon drizzle cake and fruit salads. Parents pay just £1, and leave with tea for the whole family. We have a growing collection of recipes and are always excited to try new ideas!
The club is brilliant at introducing children to healthy eating and nutrition, as well as inspiring them to cook with their parents at home. A parent from this term’s group has said “We have enjoyed every minute! It’s because of this club that my daughter loves cooking” and another said, “the club has really built my child’s confidence.”
Over the time that Flourishing Families has run the club it’s also been wonderful to see a number of parents becoming volunteers themselves- passing on cooking tips to the next group of families, building relationships and being an extra pair of hands. The club couldn’t run without the help of our amazing volunteers!
Family Cookery at Bramley St Peters is on a Tuesday morning from 9 to 10.30am in the dining hall. For further information or to join the waiting list for our next club, please contact Kate on 07554 003101.
