Spring 1
Gardeners' World
Our big question: Could you grow a banana in the UK?
World Book Day
We enjoyed having our parents and grandparents in the classroom to read with us. It was lots of fun when D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) happened in the middle of our music lesson.
Cotton Workshop
We found out which countries grow cotton and all the different jobs that people need to do so that the cotton plants can be made into the clothes we wear. We made sock puppets that became one of the workers on the journey of the cotton.
Katie in London
We have been reading Katie in London By James Mayhew.
We imagined we were Katie and Jack and wrote a diary about the adventures in London.
Brilliant Bugs
What would the world be like without bugs?
Thank you so much for completing your homework this week and bringing in all the things we needed to make our bug hotels.
We really enjoyed choosing which bugs we were going to attract to our hotels, nailing the frames together and making the rooms cosy for the bugs.
Zoolab
Year 2 had some very exciting visitors. We met a tarantula, millipede, a giant African land snail and a snake.
Snail hunting
We have been finding out about all the things a snails needs to survive in their habitat. We went out to the garden to search for everything we needed including the snails. After we had found some snails in the school garden we made them a habitat in the classroom that had everything they needed.
We had a tower building challenge. We had to be Professor Perseverence, Major Mistake, Captain Challenge and Inspector Independent because the towers weren't as easy to build as we thought and they kept falling down!
We persevered and used different techniques to build the tallest tower we could.
