Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!

We hope you all enjoyed the summer break and we are excited to be beginning a new year with two new year 4 classes.

Teaching Staff

4BW- Mrs R Wood and Mrs A Brownridge

Mrs Howarth

4CG- Miss C Greenan

Miss Ash

Mrs Watson will be working between both classes.

World Book Day

In year 4, we spent world book day focusing on the author of our current class novel, N.S. Blackman. The children looked at his website and even received an email from him asking for their opinions on the book 'Freedom for Bron' as well as some questions to answer when we have finished.

We selected the letters of the children who asked the most interesting questions to send to him. We are eagerly awaiting his response!

Our Winners

Congratulations also to Claudia, Ben, Leighton and Thomas who were unavailable for the photo.

Thank you to all the parents who attended the stay and play session on Friday 13th October. It was great to see so many of you and we appreciate your support.

Well done to all the children who made a Yorkshire themed game - there were some really imaginative ones.

Here are some of the children who went that extra mile, with images of Yorkshire and information to help develop the knowledge of the people who played their game.

Helpful Hints for Parents

We would like to share with you some of the important information to help your child in year 4.

We will be adding to this page through the year. Here are a few helpful resources and web pages you can use with your child at home.

Maths

Children in year 4 are expected to learn all the times tables to 12 X 12 by the end of the year.

Regular practice on Mathletics is a great way of practising.

Top Marks have lots of learning games and a great game for mental maths is Hit the Button.

There are also English games to play which help with grammar and sentence knowledge.

English

By the end of year 4, children are expected to learn and be able to spell all of the words on the list below. In addition to these, we will also be learning spelling patterns throughout the year.
